Caroline wrote in her weekly newsletter this week after her trip on ES1

My family and I were invited out by the Maritime Volunteer service based at Sovereign Harbour.

On Tuesday, we set sail on the Service’s vessel, East Sussex 1, which is moored in Sovereign Harbour with a crew of 7 volunteers from the service, for a trip to Beachy Head Lighthouse. During the journey other guests were given the opportunity to take control of the Boat.

It was a great opportunity to see Eastbourne from a different perspective, to witness a beautiful sunset from the sea and to highlight the wonderful work of the service.

A huge thanks to everyone at the maritime volunteers service for the service they give and the opportunities on the water they create for young people

The service are keen to recruit more volunteers, and also offer weekly training sessions (Tuesday evenings at 19.30) in navigation and seamanship, which are complemented by trips on East Sussex 1 and their sea-going Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB).

To find out more, contact the service on 01892 853500, or get in touch with my office.
