PRINCE MICHAEL OF KENT ON THE BRIDGE OF EAST SUSSEX 1 IN SOVEREIGN HARBOUR WITH ENGINEERING OFFICER, TOM BLOORE.

Tom Bloore

It was with great sadness that we learnt of the recent death of Tom Bloore, a long time member of the Unit and Area Engineering Officer.

Les Quilty writes:

On Wednesday 8 June Greg Darby, Eddie Oades and I travelled to Barnstaple, Devon, for the cremation service of Tom Bloore (Engineering Officer RNXS and MVS) and coastguard in the Bexhill Company.

Tom was a close friend to each of us and his engineering expertise was greatly respected by all. Over the years Tom sailed as my chief engineer on numerous occasions. Throughout that time there was never a problem that Tom could not solve and it was always reassuring to have him aboard.

He will always be remembered for his cheerfulness, friendship and dedication by those of us who served with him in the RNXS and MVS.

It was a privilege for us to be present at Tom’s cremation service; to meet Lizzie and the family again and to be able to convey the condolences of all those not able to be present on the day.

With many fond memories of a good friend and colleague.

Les Quilty (RNXS: MVS: HMCG)
